Practice makes perfect!

So you mum, dad, siblings and pets don't speak German or French?  You don't need to worry, as you can ask questions, learn vocabulary or practise a speech in front of anyone... or anything!  Why not give a family member a card or piece of paper with the language you are trying to learn in German/French and in English?   You could highlight the areas of language you want to learn most urgently, so that they can listen out for those key words.  This way they will be able to check if you have said the word in the right place and (if you have provided them with an English version!) will be ready to quiz you on the English vocabulary too.

Some say that even the world's biggest leaders practise their important speeches in front of  the mirror before they are faced with expectant crowds.  If this isn't your style, then there are more creative ways of finding someone to talk 'at', if you use your imagination!  Some of you might remember the famous 'Georg' from your very first German lesson:
